This paper aims to clarify the relationships between religion, consumption and everyday life. In doing so and relying on new social science theories and key relevant scholars we have identified the interconnections between these concepts and have evaluated their importance in contemporary world from different points of views. Drawing on a plural and multidimensional approach, the joint cause and preoccupation of religion and consumption to create a meaningful life has been discussed. we suggest that the modern life subject has been rather represented as an entity capable of constructing this/her own identity. Religion and consumption as manifested in the forms of religiosity and consumerism forces seek to enjoy the exclusive rights to interpret and make meaning of everyday life and thereby to provide identity for a metropolitan subject. The paper ends reviewing plural, complex and ambiguous and irreducible dimensions of the relationship religion and consumption pose in everyday urban life.

In this article we have studied the place of consumption in the life world of the citizens of Tehran. Consequently we concentrate on the place of consumption in the cluster of the living expierences of the citizens and its role on shping of Tehran urban spaces and the liquid identities of this metropolis and analyze the effect of consumption on the constructing of the identity of the city and its citizens. This researh has been done using grounded theory and participant and immediate observation and also interview with 31 Tehranian citizens. The consequencies have been organized under 8 primary and some secondary codes. Bridging between analytical levels instead of remaining on micro or macro levels of analysis and also adopting multidimensional approach for surveying paradoxical dimensions of consumption, which is itself an upshot of the paradoxical condition of the historical context of doing consuming practices, are of the traits of this inquiry.

Considerable research has been done on the subject of lifestyle in recent years, but they experience poor conceptualization, confusing concept of lifestyle with close concepts and less attention to the consistency of levels of analysis. This article aims refining the conceptual space of lifestyle and providing a precise conceptualization of cultural lifestyle. For this purpose, using documentary method and conceptual analysis techniques, the conceptual space and the relationship between culture, subculture, consumption and lifestyle are examined and then analyzing common aspects of definitions, a clearer definition of lifestyle and cultural lifestyle has been provided. The findings suggest that lifestyle means patterns of daily activities deal with cultural, social and material consumption and production and is correlated and overlaps partially or totally with concepts such as culture, subculture and consumption. Lifestyle is divided in three categories of cultural, social and economic segregation. While the social lifestyle is concerned with social production and consumption, the economic lifestyle is including material consumption and production and cultural lifestyle means pattern of everyday actions aimed at production and consumption of symbolic content.

Using elements of Labov model, this research devotes to analyze intergenerational relationships (i.e. relations between young people and adults with an emphasis on parents) in Iranian TV popular Series which are focused on youth issues as their core theme. Our findings show that three general patterns are represented through these TV Series which are included generational agreements, generational changes (include differences, disturbances and interactions) and hidden or obvious generational gaps. Meanwhile the only one which positively represented attitudes and behaviors of both adults and young people is the generational agreement pattern. Also in other patterns there are some common obvious behaviors such as respectful behaviors of young people toward adults (in spite of their differences in fundamental values) and behaviors indicating good will of adults toward young people are presented as valuable actions. But criticized behaviors just known as the results of individual mistakes of both groups which either would be corrected by advices and helps of adults or would have some bad results. Such an approach toward the intergenerational relationships show that this social important issue has been reduced to the level of an individual issue by Iranian state TV (IRIB) and it seems affected by some general policies dominated in this media organization in representing intergenerational relationships. Such policies emphasize some serious limitations in “categorizing or polarizing members of different generations” and prevention of showing “family fights, contentions and severe conflicts” (even in comedy genre). Therefore these policies incline to cover up this social issue rather than assessing its different dimensions
