The main subject of this paper is to examine the issues and factors affecting the formation of Iranian identity- a method of qualitative and descriptive. The emergence of new political units called "nation - state" leads to the formation of a new concept of collective identity as national identity. National identity is a social construction, social and political engineering of the product, but this is not the product of engineering current socio-political and cultural consequences of historical events before and after the arrival of Islam. This article surveys about the formation and influence of four movements (tobacco, constitutional, the nationalization of oil and khordad fifteenth) and civil institutions on Iranian- Islamic identity . These events having the characteristics of the Shi'ite movement and charismatic leadership engaged in activities to mobilize the masses both in the incubation period and in the period of apparent movement and civil society organizations declaring fatawa and jihad. The common feature of these movements and civil society is the high strength and empowerment of spiritual leaders in forming and stimulating these events. As a result these events lead to self-awareness, independence and the conflict against domestic tyranny and foreign occupation and has proven the Iranian Islamic identity through the victory of Islamic Revolution to the world by advocating the return to self and emphasis on maintaining their own cultural heritage . Thus, theoretically, national identity and its roots can be studied on the base of Iranian history and after the arrival of Islam, Islamism and the spread of phenomenon of globalization .

The current study is an attempt to provide a functional approach to reading the films to show how the film can be analyzed according to sociological theories. For this purpose, the film "Turtles Can Fly" was chosen for practical analysis. By examining various ideas proposed by various scholars regarding the theory of collective behavior, the Neil Smelser’s theory of "structural pressure" was chosen as the main model of the study. Through matching the film events with the six-stage emergence of social movements, it became clear that different developmental stages of the film story correspond with Smelser’s ideas. Based on the findings of this study, it can be suggested that in analyzing movies with social themes, as well as writing screenplays in the field of cinema, theories of social analysis be utilized as a practical model.

Environmental issues are considered as one of the major threats to humanity in the twenty-first century. Most of the environmental issues are the consequences of human behavior. This behavior, however, does not occur in a vacuum, and some underlying factors including background an identity are among its major determinants Thus, in investigations of environmental behaviors, considerations of life style and the way people deal with their environment are highly important. The main objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between life style and environmental behavior in Rasht. The method used in this study was a survey research. The participants of the study were Rasht inhabitants who were over 16 years old, selected through random cluster sampling. The findings suggest that there is no significant relationship between life style and environmental behavior. It seems that environmental issues in Rasht are not among public concerns and are limited to elites of the society.

The counterfactual approach to causal analysis has received considerable attention in the social sciences. The method makes it possible to estimate causal effects and evaluate social policies and projects. This paper presents the theoretical framework for causal analysis based on counterfactual framework. Then, using interval matching with propensity scores, the effect of mother’s literacy on infant mortality is estimated. Data used is from Iran Demographic and Health Survey. The results indicate that for matched cases mother’s literacy reduces infant mortality by about 18 deaths per thousand live births. The paper also presents the limitations of the method in observational studies
