Journal Article 2026 05 22 Abstract<br><br>This research aims to analyze the mechanisms underlying the reproduction of the “religion-state” relationship in Qajar-era Tehran, focusing on a case study of three neighborhoods: Oudlajan, Dowlat, and Arg. Due to the coexistence and overlapping of political power centers and religious institutions, these neighborhoods provide an ideal framework for analyzing interactions between the two fields of “religion” and “politics.” The central research question explores how “Waqf” (endowment), as a religious-spatial variable, organized power relations at the neighborhood level and how the spatial configuration of endowments relates to the consolidation of actors’ positions within these fields. Utilizing Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical framework of “field, capital, and symbolic action,” Waqf is analyzed as a mechanism for resource distribution, legitimization, and the re-adjustment of actors’ positions. The research methodology is based on a synthesis of spatial analysis (relying on historical maps) and discourse analysis of endowment deeds (Waqf-names). Findings indicate that in Qajar Tehran, Waqf was more than a religious act; it served as a strategic instrument for managing power balances and negotiation between religious elites and state officials within the urban space. چکیده<br><br>پژوهش حاضر با هدف واکاوی سازوکارهای بازتولید رابطه «دین و دولت» در تهرانِ دوره قاجار، به مطالعه موردی سه محله «عودلاجان، دولت و ارگ» می‌پردازد. این محلات به دلیل هم‌نشینی و تداخل مراکز قدرت سیاسی و نهادهای مذهبی، بهترین بستر برای تحلیل تعاملات میان دو میدان «دین» و «سیاست» هستند. پرسش اصلی پژوهش این است که «وقف» چگونه به عنوان یک متغیر مذهبی-فضایی، روابط قدرت را در سطح محله سازمان‌دهی کرده و نظم فضایی موقوفات، چه نسبتی با تثبیت جایگاه کنشگران در این دو میدان دارد؟ در این راستا، با بهره‌گیری از چارچوب نظری «میدان، سرمایه و کنش نمادین» بوردیو، وقف به مثابه سازوکاری برای توزیع منابع، مشروعیت‌بخشی و بازتنظیم جایگاه کنشگران تحلیل شده است. روش‌شناسی پژوهش بر پایه ترکیب «تحلیل فضایی» (با تکیه بر نقشه‌های تاریخی) و «تحلیل گفتمانی» وقف‌نامه‌ها استوار است. یافته‌های پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که وقف در تهران قاجاری، فراتر از یک کنش مذهبی، ابزاری استراتژیک برای مدیریت موازنه قدرت و چانه‌زنی میان نخبگان دینی و کارگزاران دولتی در فضای شهری بوده است.
