Intergenerational conflicts and challenges are one of the most important worries and problems of today's families.Therefore,purpose of the present study is analyze the factors,strategies and consequences of this phenomenon in families of Tehran.The qualitative research method is grounded theory,which was selected with the participation of 40‌ adolescents and parents in Tehran.By reviewing the data,the central research category of"conflict,difference and intergenerational challenges".‌Causal conditions including"erosion of the family's social capital","the proliferation of teenagers' lifestyles","the commercialization of relationships between parents and children","unfavorable living conditions and the lack of suitable parenting opportunities for dialogue with children","increasing individualism of the teenage generation","difference in the vocabulary of parents and teenagers".Background factors include"excessive comparison of their children with friends,acquaintances","parents' inattention to children's wishes,desires and aspirations","expansion of information and communication technologies".Among the intervening factors,we can refer to"Carnivalization of values","the fluid identity of the teenage generation","cycles of violence and aggression in the family","the high ability of teenagers to express emotional feelings".The basic strategie include"Incompatibility of parents in following their children's lifestyle in the age of technology and their stubborn resistance instead of adapting to accept new conditions.".Finally,the aforementioned strategies have consequences such as"emotional breakdown","cultural backwardness","loss of sanctity,and status of the family"and"reduction of growth and productivity of economy the society".
