Sociological Cultural Studies is a scholarly journal in the field of sociology, published by the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies (IHCS) in Tehran, Iran. Focusing on the reciprocal relationship between society and culture, the journal publishes scholarly research and provides a forum for academic discussion and exchange on social and cultural issues and transformations.
The journal is founded on the premise that social issues cannot be fully and realistically understood without considering their cultural contexts and dimensions. Social phenomena emerge within particular cultural settings and are shaped by cultural meanings, values, norms, identities, and experiences. At the same time, social processes and transformations contribute to the formation and evolution of cultural meanings, practices, and forms. From this perspective, a comprehensive understanding of society requires simultaneous attention to its social and cultural dimensions and to the reciprocal relationship between them.
Accordingly, the journal places particular emphasis on examining the reciprocal relationships and close connections between social and cultural phenomena and welcomes scholarly research that investigates these relationships from sociological and scientific perspectives.
Sociological Cultural Studies received its Scientific-Research status from the Commission for Scientific Journals of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, under Letter No. 181707/3, dated 13/9/1391 (December 4, 2012).
Following changes to the national evaluation and classification system for scientific journals, the journal received Grade B in the evaluations conducted in 1398, 1399, 1400, and 1401 (2019–2022) by the Commission for Scientific Journals of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
In accordance with the regulations governing scientific journals issued by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, scientific journals may publish various types of scholarly articles, including research articles, review articles, short papers, case studies, methodological articles, applied articles, viewpoints and perspectives, conceptual papers, and technical papers.
Sociological Cultural Studies publishes manuscripts that, following editorial assessment and peer review, are determined to meet the journal's standards for publication as scientific articles.
Through this approach, the journal seeks to provide a scholarly platform for the publication of rigorous and original research in sociology and related studies of society and culture.
