Abstract

Cultural and linguistic pluralism and the multidimensional problems in the political, security, socio-cultural and economic spheres resulting from it are one of the main characteristics of current societies, including Iran. The liberal homogenization model is also incapable of providing an appropriate response to such problems. Therefore, the present study, by applying Kymlicka's "multicultural citizenship" model with an emphasis on the continuum of "multiculturalism based on the politics of difference" for a two-way interaction and problem-solving between the government and the Arab-speaking community of our country, and using an interpretive method, was discussed.

Based on the results obtained, some legitimate demands of the Arab-speaking people of our country in the political and cultural-linguistic spheres can be reasonably responded to by referring to some of the rights stated in the theory of multicultural citizenship. However, economic problems, the high diversity of distinct and conflicting cultural identities within the country, and the intervention of domestic and foreign divergent forces have challenged the purely cultural and linguistic view of ethnic and linguistic identities.
