Abstract
the present research, by applying the collective memory theory of Maurice Halbwachs, deals with the spatial and environmental elements that are constructive and reminiscent of the collective memory of Tehran's Grand Bazaar during its historical developments. The purpose of this research is to understand how the process of memory changes happened in Tehran's Bazaar through the transformations of its body and environment. In the context of this exploration, the place memory of Tehran's Bazaar was examined from three aspects: first, the set of structural changes in the body of Bazaar and its surroundings, which were mainly influenced by urban development projects and political alignments; Second, the changes that have taken place due to the political and religious ideologies enforced over many eras, and third, the changes and physical interventions of influential groups in Bazaar. In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that due to the inevitable renovations that are always happening in the body of the metropolis of Tehran, part of what is important to preserve the identity and belonging of Tehran's citizens is to preserve the collection of places that are reference points of the collective memory of all kinds of social groups in the city, including Bazaar.
