The Arbaeen pilgrimage is considered the largest annual religious gathering in the Muslim world, attracting millions of pilgrims to Karbala, Iraq. Beyond a mere religious ritual, Arbaeen represents a multidimensional phenomenon encompassing cultural, social, psychological, and economic aspects. Using a qualitative approach based on field observations, this study analyzes the cultural identity, social solidarity, grassroots economy, and intercultural interactions observed in Karbala during Arbaeen. The findings highlight that Karbala transforms into a global city during this period, where hospitality culture, public participation, and grassroots diplomacy transcend political borders. Arbaeen can be conceptualized as a unique form of social and cultural capital with international implications.
