Abstract
This article examines the social and cultural factors related to the artistic tastes of young people. The theoretical discussions are based on the theories of Bourdieu, Castells, Potter, and Giddens. The empirical method of research is survey-based, with the statistical population consisting of students from Kashan University, from which 326 individuals have been selected as the sample size. The findings of this study indicate that the average of the variable "artistic taste" (equal to 2.65) is above the theoretical mean. The results of the hypothesis tests also show that there is a direct relationship at a 99% confidence level between the variables "economic capital," "social capital," "cultural capital," "use of the internet and virtual networks," "media literacy," and "university support policies (in financial, structural, and programmatic dimensions)" with "artistic taste." Furthermore, the evaluation of the structural equation model indicates that the variables "cultural capital" (0.357), "media literacy" (0.254), and "university support policies" (0.202) have the most significant effects on the variable "artistic taste." Additionally, the effect size of the variable "cultural capital" is at a moderate level, while other variables have a low effect size, and the predictive power of the model is estimated to be at a moderate level.
