Today, the escape of girlsfrom home and its consequences is one themounting social concerns in lots of countries. The general statistics reveal that the issue is reaching crisis point, particularly in Iran. The present paper, which is part of a research project, explores the roleof families ingirls’ home-runaways, as a vulnerable group of the society. The adopted research method is descriptive-exploratory. In collecting data, instruments like documents and reports, questionnaires and interviews—conducted in Evin prison and rehabilitation centers—were employed. Relying on available sociological theories, the present research aims to investigate the family statuses and other factors effective in girls’ home-runaways, and subsequent delinquency of teenage and young girls in Tehran.
