Abstract

The present research delves into the depiction of women in Shahnameh and involves a comprehensive meta-analysis of 370 articles, 170 treatises and theses, and 36 books on this subject. The findings are presented graphically, highlighting the temporal progression of research, the popular stories of women in Shahnameh, the gender distribution of researchers, and the primary and secondary research methodologies employed. The increasing presence of women in universities and as faculty members has driven a growing interest in the study of women in Shahnameh since the late 80s. Notably, characters like Soudabeh and Rudabeh have been the focus of extensive research, and it is noteworthy that the number of female researchers exceeds that of male researchers. The primary research methodologies encompass general, comparative, theoretical, and rhetorical analyses, while the secondary approaches include feminist, psychological, social, and personal theory research derived from the primary research approaches.
