Introduction
Cultural sociology explores how cultural values and narratives shape social structures and collective identities. Resistance, as a key concept in this field, is not just a political strategy but a cultural and social process that strengthens national identity and counters external domination. This study examines Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s perspective on resistance, highlighting its role in preserving cultural values, mobilizing society, and fostering national unity.
Materials & Methods
This study employs thematic analysis to examine the concept of resistance in the sociocultural thought of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. Data is collected from his speeches, writings, and statements, focusing on key themes related to cultural identity, social mobilization, and national unity. The analysis identifies recurring patterns and meanings, providing a deeper understanding of how resistance functions as a cultural and sociopolitical phenomenon.
Discussion & Results
Resistance, in Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s thought, is not merely a political tool but a cultural and identity-driven process that preserves national and Islamic values. It acts as a mechanism for social mobilization, encouraging collective efforts against neo-colonialism and external domination. Additionally, resistance plays a crucial role in strengthening national unity, fostering solidarity among different social groups to counter both internal and external challenges. The findings indicate that cultural resistance is essential in safeguarding national identity against ideological infiltration and soft power tactics. By framing resistance as a long-term strategic approach, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasizes its role in empowering nations to achieve independence, self-sufficiency, and cultural sovereignty.
Conclusion
The findings reveal that resistance in Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s thought consists of three main dimensions: cultural identity, social mobilization, and national unity. First, resistance serves as a cultural and identity-based phenomenon, protecting national and Islamic values from external influences. Second, it functions as a means of social mobilization, empowering societies to confront neo-colonialism and global hegemony. Third, resistance acts as a unifying force, strengthening national cohesion and solidarity in times of crisis. Overall, the study demonstrates that resistance is not merely a political strategy but a comprehensive sociocultural framework that fosters independence, resilience, and collective strength.
