Light is a metaphysical and sacred element with a spiritual and transcendental essence, holding a divine or holy status in most human cultures and religious beliefs. In the mythologies of India and Iran, the concept of light and illumination has been closely intertwined with human life from the very beginning, manifesting in various ritualistic and mythological roles. Traces of these beliefs can still be observed in the surviving ceremonies and traditions within the cultural spheres of both Iran and India.
This research is applied in nature and adopts a mixed-methods approach. In the first phase, using qualitative methods and a descriptive-analytical framework, physical and electronic sources related to the cultural rituals of Iran and India were reviewed, and relevant examples were collected. In the second phase, quantitative methods were employed to analyze and compare the data in order to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the findings. The similarities and differences between these rituals can serve as a platform for promoting intercultural tourism and raising awareness of the rich and diverse cultural identities of the two nations. Moreover, they may offer a sustainable strategy for strengthening cultural tourism and deepening the historical and cultural ties between these two ancient civilizations.
