This study aims to examine the intentions, functions, and types of endowments made by women in the city of Sari during the Early Pahlavi period (1925–1941). Utilizing historical methodology and content analysis of endowment documents, the research explores the motivations of female donors and the broader social, economic, and cultural implications of their charitable actions. The findings indicate that women endowed a diverse range of properties—including land, houses, public baths, and household items—with philanthropic, religious, familial, and social purposes in mind. These endowments were designated for various uses, such as mourning ceremonies, charitable donations, repair of religious sites, feeding the needy, medical care for the sick, and support for descendants. The diversity in the nature and application of these endowments reflects the active role of women in addressing communal needs and contributing to urban development. Beyond their historical value, these documents also serve as significant sources for sociological studies on women during the Early Pahlavi period.
