This article examines the relationship between language, power, and domination in the thought of Pierre Bourdieu, with particular emphasis on his book Homo Academicus, and analyzes the mechanisms through which power relations are formed and reproduced within the academic field. The central question of the study is how power relations in the academic field are reproduced through linguistic practices, social relations, and the unequal distribution of academic capital. Accordingly, the article seeks to address the following questions: How does Bourdieu conceptualize language and linguistic practices? How are power relations reflected in the academic and managerial behaviors of academics. The findings indicate that, by rejecting the conception of language as an independent and neutral system and situating linguistic practices within the context of social relations, Bourdieu conceptualizes language as a domain through which symbolic power is exercised and reproduced. Furthermore, the use of terms such as Client and Clientèle to describe certain academic relationships enables a critical reading of the professor–student relationship in terms of exchange, interests, and the distribution of capital, thereby challenging the conception of the university as a sacred, elevated, and neutral institution.
