Introduction
Bernardes writes in his book "An Introduction to Family Studies": "Family life is more important than what textbooks in social sciences, political media, and religions say. To be more precise, I want to say that family life is the key to understanding human society. Furthermore, family life is the key to the progress of society and the creation of a dignified, just, secure, and safe world." (Bernardes, 384: 55) In the family, like many other social entities, two fundamental elements influence decision-making and actions of individuals: tangible factors and mental factors. Among the mental factors, culture is a very important component. Culture encompasses a wide range of arts, literature, history, religion, living environment, personal experiences, customs, and traditions that individuals define their lifestyles, beliefs, choices, preferences, and priorities based on. The examination of the cultural component of the family means studying the attitudes, perspectives, values, priorities, and mental concerns of individuals regarding the family. This study aims to extract a clear picture of the cultural perspective on the family among Persian-speaking users of social network X. Problem Statement
Considering that virtual communications are becoming more widespread and dominant day by day and can have fundamental influences on individuals' values, it is necessary to conduct this research to understand what information about the family is being transmitted and disseminated through virtual media and what old or new behavioral patterns are being reconstructed and expanded.
Based on the above introduction, it can be stated as the problem: What are the topics of discussion about the family among Persian-speaking users of social network X? What aspects of the family can be observed in the content of tweets? What are the main themes in discussions about the family? Which type of discourse does the "family discourse" on social network X mostly resemble?
Materials & Methods
The objective of this research is to identify the main topics of discussion about the family from Persian tweets and extract the main components of the cultural aspect of the family. The data will be analyzed using relevant sociological theories to provide a comprehensive sociological analysis of the dominant discourse about the family.
Research Questions
1. What are the topics of discussion about the family among Persian-speaking users of social network X?
2. What aspects of the family can be observed in the content of tweets?
3. What are the main themes in discussions about the family?
4. Which type of discourse does the "family discourse" on social network X mostly resemble?
Theoretical Framework
For the theoretical framework of this research, Bernardes' theory of "family citizenship" and Saroukhani's theory of "personalization" have been chosen. As described above, family citizenship refers to the need for a form of citizenship that integrates all aspects of civil, political, and social (citizenship) and gives utmost importance to the family in all decision-making processes. In this perspective, no one has a secondary role, and everyone has rights and responsibilities within the framework of the family, and individual and separate ways of life are not accepted.
Saroukhani's theory of "personalization" believes that in modern times, marriage, family, and human relationships are not fixed but rather variable. Individuals choose their unique paths based on their circumstances, interests, and situations.
Discussion& results
Regardless of the forms and variations of families in today's world, there is still a common agreement that the family is the most important emotional refuge for individuals and it has psychological benefits and meaning of life. The results of the analysis and examination of tweets show that the Iranian society, in terms of attitudes and perspectives towards the family, may be moving slower but still in line with global changes.
Although the collective interests of the family often prioritize individual interests, attention to rights, independence, and personal boundaries is strongly visible in the demands of users of social network X.
Conclusion
Based on the theoretical framework of the research, in the theory of family citizenship, the rights and privileges of individuals are recognized, and in the theory of personalization, it is explained that a general model cannot function for all aspects of life for individuals in society.
Another notable aspect in the results of this research is the emphasis on intimacy in family relationships. The importance of intimacy in today's world is such that it takes the place of moral and legal commitment for the survival of communal life and the preservation of the family.
Intimacy is linked to the indicator of communication skills. The higher the communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and participation in family life, the stronger the intimacy between members will be. The results of this research also reveal the importance of life skills among Persian Twitter users. The significance of "life skills" in individual and social life and its important impact on the family and its preservation is a noteworthy and contemplative point that can be the basis for significant cultural investments.
