This article examines signs, symbols and conventional meaning systems in the life and religious culture of the people of Vafas. With the migration of the rural population of Vafs to the cities, there is a risk of forgetting this local language, so this issue increases the importance of documenting, researching and writing down the declining language and culture such as the language and culture of Vafs. In order to study the semantic system of these people, it was necessary to conduct field research, interviews with elders and people knowledgeable about local culture, native speakers, and review historical documents. This process helped to gain a deeper understanding of how to communicate and produce meaning in this society. Vafsi language, as one of Tati dialects, contains linguistic signs that convey social, cultural, and historical meanings. These signs can be seen in the use of special words, the use of idioms, proverbs, or even the tone of voice in speech. Non-linguistic signs in Vafsi culture include religious ceremonies, rites of passage, ritual celebrations, traditional arts such as braids, music, dances, and traditional clothing. The use of public or private spaces, and the way of construction in Vafs also contain cultural signs.
